Beaugrand and Potter Set For Supertri E Rematch

Cassandre Beaugrand recovered from a five second penalty to book her spot in the final of the Supertri E World Triathlon Championships powered by MyWhoosh and set-up a mouthwatering rematch with her great rival Beth Potter.
In a format that saw the first two athletes automatically qualify for the finals with the four fastest losers across the heats, which consisted of two back-to-back rounds of swim, bike and run, joining them, Heat 2 had a moment of drama as Olympic champion Cassandre Beaugrand was given a 5 second penalty early on for a swim hat outside of the box.
However, she was so much quicker than her competition it really made little difference as she secured a 35 second victory. Britain’s Sian Rainsley came in second with an impressive all-round display.
There were no surprises in Heat 1 as Beth Potter led the way and eased her way into the final. Potter led out of the first swim and by the time she crossed the finish line was 27 seconds ahead and cruising.
Germany’s Julia Broecker finished second with 30 seconds to spare on Alissa Konig.
